Swedish Academy in turmoil: Three members leave

The Royal Swedish Academy, most well-known for awarding the Nobel Prize for Literature every year, is in turmoil as three more members are leaving the Academy in protest concerning a growing sexual-harassment scandal.

The Academy has been in a serious crisis since last autumn when a group of 18 women made public accusations of sexual harassment against Jean-Claude Arnault, a Frenchman who is married to a member of the Academy, Katarina Frostenson.

A law firm was commissioned to study the connections between the Academy and Arnault whose small theatre has been receiving substantial subsidies from the Academy.
