Following Friday's open letter in Swedish daily Svenska Dagbladet, where hundreds of female actors gathered to take a stand against sexual abuse and harassments in the industry, anonymous accounts of abuse have continued to come through. The number of women putting their names to the letter has grown substantially, from 456 on Friday to 703 on Monday afternoon. The list has now been reinforced with well known Swedish actors such as Academy Award winner Alicia Vikander, Noomi Rapace of ”The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” and Pernilla August from ”Star Wars” and several Ingmar Bergman productions.

The letter called out the Swedish film and theatre industry for failing to protect women from sexual abuse and for profiting from the work of known abusers. The response was massive. At moment the original piece has had over 70 000 shares. The morning after the joint call, Alice Bah Kuhnke, Minister for Culture and Democracy, called for a meeting with the heads of the Swedish national scenes, demanding an end to the violations. Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven strongly condemned the actions reported by the female actors, and an internal investigation against a male actor was launched at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm.
