Despite promises of free internet access for foreign reporters during the Olympic games, China declares that they will block websites. The Amnesty International homepage is one of the blocked sites that reporters are not able to read at the moment.

– It is not acceptable for China to do this. I hope they will change their decision soon, says Gunilla Lindberg, vice president of IOC.

– They have made a promise of free internet access and i think we should put pressure on the organizers to alter the decision.

She emphasizes the fact that there is a 300 page contract that IOC and the chinese organizers have agreed upon.

This Wednesday however Kevan Gosper, declared that China will block websites. According to Gosper this decision must have been made in agreement with the IOC, but Jacques Rogge, head of the IOC denies this.

– I have no knowledge of this, says Gunilla Lindberg.

On Saturday the IOC will meet to discuss the matter.
